Never Forget: Gaza Flotilla

Exactly a year from today on 31st May 2010, while in international waters and en route to Gaza, Israeli Naval Forces communicated that a naval blockade over the Gaza area was in force and ordered the ships to follow them to Ashdod Port or to be boarded, the ships declined and were boarded in international waters. The boarding started at 2 a.m. on 31 May 2010 and was completed by 8.

Never Forget:

Where? International waters of the Mediterranean Sea
Target? Gaza-bound flotilla in international waters
Date? 31 May 2010
Executed by? Israeli Navy
Outcome? Seizing control of the ships and detaining the passengers
Casualties? 9 passengers killed and several dozen passengers and seven commandos injured.

To follow second-by-second tweets from all over the world about Gaza Flotilla, follow the hashtag #Marmara and #Flotilla on Twitter. My favourite tweets were these of Haya Al Shatti, a Kuwaiti activist who was on board of Gaza Flotilla last year:
